DID YOU KNOW?
Seasonal farmers market

The Red Stick Market brings fresh produce to the East Baton Rouge Parish Main Library, 7711 Goodwood Blvd., weekly during peak season. All produce is grown locally by farmer members. The market is from 8 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays, weather permitting. No pets allowed.

Shenandoah Shuffle

The Baton Rouge Bike Club organizes weekly bike rides in the Shenandoah area.

The rides begin at 5:30 p.m. at Capitol Cyclery, 5542 Jones Creek Road. New riders are welcome. This is a no-drop ride with planned progressive distances of 5, 10 and 20 or 30 miles depending on who shows up and ability levels of riders. The average speed is 12 to 17 miles per hour. The routes are through low-traffic residential streets of Shenandoah, Lake at White Oak, White Oak Landing, Hickory Ridge, Woodlawn Estates and Carrington Place subdivisions and on surrounding low-traffic rural roads.

Riders are encouraged to come early and browse in the store.

For safety, cyclists should have a properly maintained bike and a helmet. Since the rides often are when the sun is low and nearing dusk, bikes should have front and rear flashing lights to improve visibility for motorists. Reminder: If you know you will be riding after dark, it is the law that your bike must have a white front and red rear light.
