Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport connects us to the world
ADVOCATE STAFF REPORT

Tucked away in the northwest part of the city, the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport (flybtr.com) is the state’s second largest airport by passenger volume. It is served by three major network airlines, American, Delta and United.

The airlines offer direct flights to four major hubs, where passengers can make connections to hundreds of domestic and international flights. American Airlines’ flights connect to Dallas/Fort Worth and Charlotte, North Carolina. United offers nonstop flights to Houston. Delta flies to Atlanta.

Last year, the Baton Rouge airport had close to 800,000 passengers. That number could easily rise this year. American is increasing the number of larger Bombardier CRJ700 aircraft in its flight schedule to Dallas/Fort Worth and Charlotte.

A 2016 survey ranked the Baton Rouge airport No. 2 among small hubs for ease of accessing parking and No. 5 for getting to the terminal. The airport’s amenities include an arcade, ATM, business center, curbside check-in, gift shops, a kids room, a nursing room, a reading room, restaurants, a smoking lounge and free Wi-Fi.
